I wanted to give you the info about this cool place in Toledo, Spain that makes the swords, suits of armor, etc. and  also has tons of the blackened steel and gold damasquino for which Toledo is  so well known. The place is called Bermejo. You can go and watch the artisans working - most interesting.

Pack your own groceries in discount stores like Monoprix, Prísunic, and  food stores. Monoprix and similar stores are great places to buy everything -- cosmetics, lingerie, books, cards, food, hosiery, etc.
Buy stamps and phone cards (to call to the U.S.) at the tabacs (shops selling tobacco). You can also make phone calls from some post offices.
Buy a carnet (car nay - 10 tickets) and save on fares. Métro tickets look  like old-fashioned movie tickets. Sometimes when you exit, the fare machine captures it; other times you walk away with a used ticket. Get rid of the ticket once you use it and exit. Otherwise, it can be confusing if you try to use the ticket again and it won't go through.
